Two youth and three minors were apprehended on Monday (April 20) for allegedly attacking a man and robbing his nine-sovereign chain near Attaiyampatti bus stand. According to police, M. Deepankumar (26), a resident of Old Sooramangalam, was heading to his relative’s house on Sunday evening by car. At High School Medu near the bus stand, the five individuals blocked the road, resulting in an altercation. They then damaged the car, attacked Deepankumar and snatched his gold chain before fleeing. The Attaiyampatti police registered a case and on Monday arrested A. Karunakaran (20) and T. Lakshmanan (19), residents of Attaiyampatti, and three minors in connection with the robbery.
