Our phones have become an extension of our body. A place where mornings begin and nights end. Between maps, menus, messages and mindless scrolling, attention spans are slipping through the cracks, leaving behind a restless kind of fatigue. Solutions are everywhere. Apps, devices, philosophies, meditation techniques, life coaches, even retreats and resorts all promise the same thing: a way to step back from the screen and reclaim focus.

It is within this crowded wellness space that focus app OruCupOxygen, developed in Chennai, enters the conversation, attempting to address focus not by asking users to step away from their phones, but by changing how they engage with their devices. “Everyone knows focus is important, much like going to the gym. But it takes a certain bent of mind to actually do it. We are building something for that small group that wants to show up every day,” says co-founder of the app, Santosh Kumar.
