The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has sent an internal communication to its staff, directing them to brainstorm and suggest measures to improve revenue and rationalise expenditure, amid what the management has described as a critical financial situation.

According to the communication, the transport juggernaut’s’ financial stress is primarily on account of the revision of pay scale of 2017. The TGSRTC, the communication stated, is grappling with liabilities, including dues towards banks, provident fund contributions, and other obligations.

As a part of a proposed move to ameliorate the situation, the management has proposed structured brainstorming sessions at different levels of the State run transport undertaking. These are to be held at depots, workshops, stores, and hospitals run by the TGSRTC. The objective is to identifying methods or processes to improve revenue, reduce operational costs, minimise inefficiencies, and optimise existing systems. The exercise will also explore the scope for greater automation and mechanisation in operations.

Depot managers have been directed to organise these brainstorming sessions at their respective units and submit concrete proposals by February 10. Regional managers, in turn, have been instructed to compile and submit action plans aimed at achieving the same objectives by February 20.

The proposals received from across the organisation are scheduled to be consolidated at the TGSERTC headquarters at Bus Bhavan. Based on the finalised action plan, the management is expected to roll out implementation measures from March 1.
