Telangana Police have recovered 1,24,850 lost or stolen mobile phones using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CIER) system up to April 26, emerging as the top-performing State in the country, according to officials. The CEIR platform, developed by the Department of Telecommunications to curb mobile theft and use of counterfeit devices, has been operational across all 780 police stations in the State. Though the system was launched in Telangana on April 19, 2023, after its initial rollout in pilot States in 2022, officials said that the State has achieved the highest recovery numbers in the country.
