The intense campaigning by political parties and their candidates all over Tamil Nadu for the Assembly election will end at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (April 21, 2026). Polling in all 234 constituencies will start at 7 a.m. on April 23. All political functionaries and party workers who are not voters of a constituency must clear out immediately after 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

A total of 4,023 candidates are in the fray. Senior BJP leaders, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah; Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and D.K. Shivakumar; Telugu Desam Party leader and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu; AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal; and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav were among the leaders who visited the State for electioneering in the past few weeks.
