Officials from the Election Commission of India said that ₹22 lakhs in cash was seized from the DMK party office in Udhagamandalam in The Nilgiris on late Monday (April 20, 2026) evening. According to officials, flying squad teams had received a tip-off about the presence of a large sum of money, allegedly for distribution to voters being kept in the party office. Teams raided the office around 7 p.m. on Monday evening and continued their search late into the night.
