Visiting homes every morning, the Greater Chennai Corporation’s garbage collection carts are playing a new message this season at every doorstep – the importance of casting one’s vote. “During property tax collection drives, the carts urged residents to pay their taxes. This time, the reminder about voting on April 23 is doing the rounds,” said Sivaraman, a conservancy inspector of Ward 195.

Autorickshaws are also being utilised by political parties for canvassing. In Saligramam, vehicles carrying advertisements of both the AIADMK and DMK were seen on Monday (April 13, 2026) evening. Voices over speakers belted out promises on behalf of the respective parties.
