Rahul Gandhi at an election campaign meeting at the government aided college ground in Mandaikadu | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday (April 20, 2026) alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is attempting to rule Tamil Nadu “by proxy.” Addressing an Assembly election campaign at the government aided college ground in Mandaikadu, in support of the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) candidates contesting across the six constituencies of Kanniyakumari district, he said: “The RSS is planning to, and trying to, rule Tamil Nadu by proxy.
