The Telangana Government’s dependence on borrowings and other liabilities through the financial accommodation instruments offered by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) continued in 2025-26 with the State raising over ₹80,000 crore loans during the fiscal. The State’s total borrowings during 2025-26 were around ₹82,151 crore, significantly higher than the ₹71,400 crore permitted by the Union Finance Ministry for the fiscal. The borrowing limit was pegged at ₹54,009 crore for 2025-26, but the Union Government allowed Telangana to raise more loans following some proactive measures like loan swapping.
