The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Kadapa zone is running 1,264 special bus services till January 19 to cater to the Sankranti festival rush.

APSRTC Zonal Chairman Pula Nagaraju said the Corporation is running 319 special buses to Hyderabad, 353 to Bengaluru, 28 to Chennai and 79 to Vijayawada from the Kadapa Zone. From Anantapur district, the RTC is operating 33 buses to Hyderabad, 45 to Bengaluru, two to Chennai and seven to Vijayawada.

Mr. Nagaraju said plans have been chalked out to run more bus services based on demand. Reservation facility has been provided to book seats for these special buses and no additional charges will be levied for Sankranti special or regular services. He said those who reserve tickets for their to-and-fro journey will get 10% discount on the total fare and asked passengers to avail the services.

Mr Nagaraju said 50 electric buses will soon be inducted into the fleet in Anantapur district. He added that those bus drivers who were found medically unfit to drive a bus will be given alternate jobs in the Corporation.
