The Southern Railway has registered significant strides in operating efficiency performance during the recently concluded financial year. This includes introducing around 28 pairs of new trains to cater to the burgeoning requirements of passenger traffic, along with providing additional stoppages and speeding up of trains.

Among the 28 trains and two one-way services introduced in the last fiscal, the highest in the last 10 years, included KSR Bengaluru–Ernakulam Vande Bharat Express and 10 pairs of Amrit Bharat Express trains. Twelvepairs of mail/express trains were introduced, including the fully unreserved Antyodaya weekly express between Thiruvananthapuram North and Mangaluru Junction. Additionally, 7 pairs of passenger/MEMU services were also introduced, giving a fillip to suburban and short-distance connectivity, said the Railways in a statement.
