After taking a tiger cub into captivity on Monday (April 27, 2026), the Forest Department tracked down a second cub at Solada village in the Udhagai North Range of the Nilgiris. On Monday, officials captured one of the two cubs spotted by local villagers. Officials believe the cubs were abandoned by their mother. Veterinary assistant surgeons from the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve and Arignar Anna Zoological Park are caring for the cub in custody, while a decision on whether to capture the second animal has yet to be made.
