Beena Pillai, chief scientist at CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, New Delhi, has taken charge as the new Director of the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology here, a national institute under the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology. Her appointment as the Director of BRIC-RGCB for a five-year term was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet. Dr. Pillai succeeds Chandrabhas Narayana, who completed his five-year stint as Director in September last year, an official release said here.
