Marking the World Liver Day, Preethi Hospital here held a free gastro and liver camp for about 10 days in April. Surgical gastroenterologist and liver transplant surgeon Vignesh Mani told reporters on Saturday that they had screened 1,400 persons during the weekends (Friday to Sunday) at the hospital and the inference showed that at least 250 among them had potential problems related to liver. He said 50 patients were advised to undergo surgery and being followed up for the same. For the first time in Madurai, more than 100 patients underwent free fibroscan screening to diagnose fatty liver and liver fibrosis.
