Postal Voting Centres have been set up at the office of the Election Returning Officers of the eight Assembly constituencies in Thanjavur district to assist the ‘essential service voters’ to exercise their franchise before the polling day. According to the District Election Officer and Collector B. Priyanka Pankajam, the Election Commission had announced that those employed in the essential services such as the Southern Railway, media, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd., Fire and Rescue Services, Prisons and Rehabilitation Department were entitled to cast their votes using postal ballot.
