Police reportedly seized ganja worth ₹2.5 lakh and arrested two persons as part of intensified surveillance to prevent drug cases in Chittoor district on Sunday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi formed special parties to monitor the suspected movement of drugs through the vital transit routes towards Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Based on specific information, a team led by Deputy SP T. Sainath and Chittoor I Town Inspector M. Maheshwara Rao conducted checks around 12.30 p.m. at a vacant site behind the APSRTC bus stand.

The police detained a woman, Bujji (27), and a man, Kakari Shivateja (25), who were reportedly found moving suspiciously in the area. A search led to the seizure of 6.2 kg of ganja and five mobile phones from their possession. The contraband was estimated to be worth nearly ₹2.5 lakh. The duo was sent to remand.
