The Thiruvananthapuram City Police arrested one man with alleged possession of nearly 110 g of MDMA. The police identified the accused as Biju alias Ucchi Biju of Rajaji Nagar. He was apprehended by a joint team of the City District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) and Cantonment police following a tip-off. The investigators seized 107.6 g of the contraband that was found to be concealed in the accused’s body in four packets. They alleged that the quantity indicated an intent to distribute the narcotic substance within the city. Biju is known to be a habitual offender with a long criminal history. He has been booked multiple times under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) and is presently under externment order issued by the District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram City). He has earlier faced KAAPA action twice at the Cantonment police station. The accused is also listed in the police station’s rowdy list and several narcotics-related cases had been registered against him in the past.
