With UV index levels reaching alarming heights in the Munnar hill station, Idukki District Collector Dineshan Cheruvatt has issued a high alert for the district. According to the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), a high UV index of 8 was recorded on Saturday. The Collector advised the public to avoid direct sunlight during the day and recommended covering the face and body when outdoors. Furthermore, the Tourism department and the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) have been directed to issue formal warnings to tourists visiting Munnar.
