Ministry apprised about academic initiatives for strengthening research, student participation in democracy and election management

Universities and colleges in the State have been instructed by the State Higher Education Ministry to undertake three academic initiatives aimed at strengthening research, academic engagement and student participation in the field of democracy and election management.

The initiatives launched last month by the Election Commission of India – the Indian International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) constitute international academic conference on democracy and election management; student connect – research challenge on democracy and election management; and IIIDEM academic outreach programme on democracy and election management.

The initiatives are required to be undertaken by colleges in the ambit of Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Director of Technical Education, universities under the aegis of Higher Education Department, deemed-to-be universities and private universities.
