The Special POCSO Court in Chittoor on Friday (January 30, 2026) sentenced a man identified as S. Dilip Kumar, 40, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹3,000 for raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl in 2022. The Court also directed the District Collector to provide ₹4 lakh compensation to the victim. Mr. Kumar, a widower, lured the girl with false promises and married her at a local temple by using a fake gold chain. Later, he abandoned her after she became pregnant. The prosecution successfully proved the case, leading to Kumar’s conviction under the POCSO Act.
