Many families have moved out of Ariyamangalam and surrounding areas because of health problems caused by the Ariyamangalam dump. MOORTHY With School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi eyeing a hat-trick in a multi-cornered contest, Tiruverumbur is going to the polls amid voter discontent over the delay in building service lanes along the Tiruchi-Thanjavur National Highway and continuing recessionary conditions among its once-thriving steel fabrication units. Although Mr. Poyyamozhi, one of the influential younger generation leaders in the DMK, has been able to bring some big-ticket projects such as an Olympic Academy, a jallikattu arena, and a government model school for his constituency, the service road issue remains a thorn in his flesh.
