A procession in connection with the ongoing Mahamagham festival at Tirunavaya began from Kalpathy in Palakkad on Wednesday. The procession was originally scheduled to start from Thirumoorthy, near Udumalpet, in Tamil Nadu, where the Bharathapuzha river originates, and reach in Palakkad on Wednesday. However, after the Tamil Nadu government denied permission for the rath yatra, the organisers decided to start the procession from Kalpathy instead. The procession covered Vadakkanthara, Yakkara, Kodunthirapully, Anikkode, Mangara, Pampadi, Tiruvilwamala and Kuthampully. It will pass through Chinakkathur, Vaniyamkulam, Kulappully, Pattambi, Thrithala and Kuttippuram before reaching the Mahamagham venue on the banks of the Bharathapuzha at Tirunavaya on Thursday.
