The fruit looks much too smooth, almost too perfect to cut into, but I go at it crème brûlée-style, gently tapping on its chocolate-coated yellow shell, cracking it open to reveal thick, creamy ice cream. This is Hocco’s Aamchi, which went viral on Instagram last year. In Chennai, though, the ice cream was not available last summer, leaving many of us to feel the FOMO. That changes this summer. While Aamchi is now available on quick commerce apps including Swiggy, Zepto and Blinkit(and selling out just as quickly), the Ahmedabad-based brand is also opening its Hocco Creameries in Chennai. Founder Ankit Chona confirms the brand will open seven outlets in the city — in Egmore, Kilpauk, Vepery, Kathipara, Alwarpet, Adyar and Sowcarpet — this summer.
