The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) legal team has filed a complaint against the State BJP’s X account, alleging that it circulated defamatory content targeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and other State Ministers.

According to the complaint, the BJP’s social media handle allegedly shared a poster featuring the Chief Minister and other Congress Ministers with the caption “Scam Lord”. The poster, which also featured Minister Santosh Lad and B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan carried a tagline that read, “This is not a story of scams; this is a story of scamsters.” The post was shared along with another caption, “This is the real story of Congress’s scam empire, which is looting Karnataka day and night.”

The complainant, N. Narendra, noted that the post used terms such as “loot” and “scam” with the intention of misleading the public and maligning the reputation of the elected representatives. He alleged that the post amounted to character assassination and was of a nature that could create social unrest. The complainant sought legal action against those responsible for publishing the content.

The Cyber Crime Police at the Commissioner’s office have registered a case, but it has not yet been converted into an FIR. A preliminary inquiry will be conducted before registering an FIR.
