The Department of Health and Family Welfare has appealed to the public, particularly those staying in areas adjacent to forests, to be cautious in the wake of cases of Kyasanur Forest Disease being reported in the Malnad region of Shivamogga district. K.S. Nataraj, District Health Officer, in a communique to the media on Thursday, said the cases were being reported from parts of Sagar, Hosanagara and Tirthahalli taluks. In Tirthahalli taluk, cases were reported in the limits of primary health centres located at Aralasuruli, Megaravalli, Katagaru, Horogulige, Yogimath, Maluru and Bettabasavani. In Hosanagara taluk, the cases were reported in Sonale, Huncha and Ripponpet PHC limits. Similarly, in Sagar taluk, the cases were reported from villages that fall within Talaguppa PHC and some villages of Talavata gram panchayat.
