The State Budget has outlined a broad but measured development roadmap for Thrissur district, with allocations spread across infrastructure, education, social justice, health, irrigation, tourism, and local governance. While not marked by headline-grabbing splurges, the Budget reflects a constituency-wise attempt to address long-pending civic needs and region-specific priorities. In the Thrissur Assembly constituency, projects worth ₹157.5 crore have been announced. Major infrastructure proposals feature prominently, led by the ₹60-crore allocation for the West Fort Junction elevated highway. While ₹15 crore has been allocated for the second phase of MG Road development, ₹10 crore has been allocated for drainage reconstruction on the Kodungallur–Shornur road, and ₹10 crore for the first phase of a model road on the Thrissur–Mannuthy stretch. Railway and transport connectivity receive attention through allocations for the Vadukkara railway overbridge and a KSRTC–railway station foot overbridge. Educational and public facilities such as a post-metric girls’ hostel, a stadium, a new PWD office complex, and college infrastructure have also been included. Irinjalakuda emerged as a strong focus area in education, social justice, and culture, with projects worth ₹44.5 crore. The National Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (NIPMR) at Kallettumkara has been allotted ₹22.5 crore, strengthening its role as a centre of excellence for disability empowerment. Educational infrastructure gains include ₹6 crore for the second phase of the Irinjalakuda Educational Hub, ₹5 crore each for new buildings at Nadavarambu Government School and Irinjalakuda Government Girls High School, and funds for modernising the veterinary hospital. A memorial-cum-library and social research centre in the names of C. Achutha Menon and P.K. Chathan Master has also been approved. Kunnamkulam constituency has received ₹18.65 crore for development works. A key project is the conversion of the Thrissur Sports Division at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School into a fully residential sports school and centre of excellence, supported by ₹7.5 crore. Additional funds have been earmarked for educational buildings, irrigation bund renovation, road modernisation, a new sub-registrar office, and minor bridge works. For Kaipamangalam, the Budget focuses on decentralised development, coastal protection, and local infrastructure. Funds have been allocated for community-level solar energy projects, school and anganwadi buildings, roads, bridges, tourism-linked infrastructure at Munakkal Beach, and large-scale coastal protection works using tetrapods and geotubes. Chalakudy has secured approval for ₹139 crore worth of projects, spanning roads, tourism, health, education, water conservation, and transport. Key initiatives include investments in Athirappilly-Vazhachal tourism infrastructure, Chalakudy River protection, new bridges and check dams, trauma care facilities at the taluk hospital, and upgrades to educational institutions. Kodungallur stands out with approvals for projects worth ₹305 crore, covering drinking water supply, irrigation, riverbank protection, transport, tourism, and cultural infrastructure. Major allocations include funds for a municipal drinking water project, the Annamanada Palippuzha regulator-cum-bridge, road upgrades, science park expansion, and eco-tourism initiatives.
