Former Member of Legislative Council Kalvakuntla Kavitha launching new political party Telangana Rashtra Sena at Munnerabad in Medchal Malkajgiri district on Saturday (April 25, 2026). | Photo Credit: NAGARA GOPAL Claiming that the party that led the Statehood movement, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), had lost its soul after being renamed the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Telangana Jagruthi president and former Member of the Legislative Council Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Saturday (April 25) announced the launch of a new political entity — Telangana Rashtra Sena — stating it would work to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the ‘newly created State’. The former BRS MLC also apologised to the people for being part of a family that had ‘misruled’ the State for nearly a decade since Telangana’s formation.
