Nadda asserted on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) that the BJP will ensure at any cost that the Karthigai Deepam will be lit at the stone pillar, identified as the deepathoon, atop the Thiruparankundram Hill in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. He was in Tiruvannamalai to canvass votes for C. Elumalai, the BJP candidate for Tiruvannamalai Assembly constituency. “The BJP will secure the deepathoon to allow devotees to light the Karthigai Deepam atop the hillock. We will ensure that it happens,” he said.
