The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) cautioned against moves to push for religion-based delimitation on Thursday, pointing out that “J&K and Assam are victims of the lopsided delimitation process held recently”. “J&K and Assam are victims of the delimitation process held in 2022. In J&K, the Kashmir division, with 10 lakh more votes than the Jammu division, was brought at par. Areas with 20,000 voters in the Jammu division were made constituencies compared to the Kashmir Valley with lakhs of voters which got one,” said PDP leader Naeem Akhtar, during his tour of Bandipora district in north Kashmir.
