Vijay Kumar The silt-choked Toorpu Vanka feeder canal is being revived under the Jaladhara-Jalaharathi water conservation initiative in Sambavaram village of Gospadu mandal, in a project the district administration says will improve water flow and create rural employment. The Toorpu Vanka, or Eastern Stream, has run through Sambavaram for decades. It originates from the Gajulapalli Ankireddy Tank, flows through the fields of Gangavaram and Masidupuram, and merges into the Kanala Tank within the village. Officials said the stream had silted up over the years and lost its original carrying capacity.
