The vexed issue of internal reservation among the Scheduled Castes is expected to come up for discussion, and a possible decision is likely to be taken during the next Cabinet meeting, even as the State government on Thursday set up a technical committee under Chief Secretary to recommend a possible matrix.

“There was intense pressure from Dalit Left Ministers K.H. Muniyappa and R.B. Thimmapur on the Chief Minister to implement the internal reservation at the earliest. A decision is likely to be taken during the next Cabinet,” government sources said. While it was also suggested to provide 5.3% each to Dalit Left and Dalit Right, and 4.4% for “touchable” castes of Korama, Koracha, Lambani and Bhovi along with 59 Nomadic castes within the 15% reservation for Scheduled Castes, the technical committee will review it and submit a report before the next Cabinet, sources said.
