The western part of Hyderabad will be the recipient of several major infrastructural projects to be developed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, which include a 9-kilometre elevated corridor at a cost of ₹1,656 crore. The elevated corridor is planned to connect Banjara Hills with the Shilpa Layout in Kothaguda, providing signal free access to the Outer Ring Road at Gachibowli. It will be developed in two phases, linking key areas such as Film Nagar and Hitech City. The first phase is planned on five kilometre stretch between Film Nagar and Shilpa Layout, and in the second phase, the four kilometre stretch between Integrated Command & Control Centre tower and Hakimpet Kunta. The elevated corridor is expected to de-congest traffic by connecting key activity nodes such as Banjara Hills, Film Nagar, Narne Road, ITC Kohenur Road, T-Hub, and Shilpa Layout, thereby improving mobility across the Raidurg–HITEC City region. A portion of the alignment passing through the Defence owned land is awaiting clearance, a note from HMDA informed. It will also serve as an alternative parallel route to the existing radial road from Mehdipatnam to Gachibowli, reducing traffic conflicts. The project is proposed with a combination of 4-lane and 6-lane configurations, comprising both at-grade and elevated sections. A total of six entry and exit locations at major intersecting points are planned at Road No. 82 (Film Nagar), Narne Road, Road No. 52, ITC Kohenur Road, T-Hub Junction, and Auro Realty Junction. The urban development authority also announced a ‘world class’ trumpet interchange at Budvel, connecting the second radial road with the Outer Ring Road and integrating with the Budvel layout. The ₹488 crore project, currently at the tender stage, will enhance connectivity to Budvel, Musi Riverfront, Gachibowli, Shamshabad, and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and funded through HMDA’s infrastructure bonds, the statement informed. Through its arm Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited, the HMDA is taking up a pipeline road from Shankarpally road at MGIT to Manikonda covering a length of 3.57 kilometres. This will decongest the traffic in surrounding areas of Kokapet, Manikonda, Gandipet, Puppalguda, Narsingi, and others. The government has accorded administrative sanction for ₹110 crore, and the proposal includes construction of six-lane carriage way with 10 metre median to accommodate heritage channel, drain and footpath on either side of the carriage way. Culverts and minor bridges, junction improvement and landscaping works will be part of the project. To address congestion at Gachibowli Junction, the left-side carriageway of the ORR from Nanakramguda to Gachibowli will be widened from three lanes to four lanes, the HMDA announced. This will resolve the traffic bottleneck created by traffic on two flyovers constructed by the GHMC, towards Kondapur and Shilpa Layout. Tenders for the ₹26.50 crore project will begin from January 27, 2026, the statement said.
