Gig worker assaulted for ‘using store’s perfume’

An 18-year-old delivery worker of a quick commerce platform was assaulted on Sunday by the owner of a store in east Delhi’s Old Kondli area for spraying himself with perfume from a bottle at the shop, the police said on Monday.

The incident came to light when the victim, Risha Kumar, approached the police and filed a complaint. He underwent a medical examination, and his statement was recorded as part of the investigation, an officer said.

According to the preliminary investigation, Mr. Kumar allegedly picked up the bottle from a shelf and used it. The owner saw this and scolded him, prompting a heated argument.

The confrontation then escalated, with the owner allegedly assaulting Mr. Kumar, the officer said, adding that the police are examining the CCTV footage from the store and questioning witnesses.
