They had to move resources to two polling stations situated in deep forest on hilly terrains with the help of ponies and deploy workers to carry the materials as headload, escorted by armed police personnel. Speaking to The Hindu, District Election Officer and Collector Ranjith Singh said these polling stations — No: 245 at Vellimalai on the remote Varusanad hills in Andipatti Assembly constituency; No: 14 at Oothukadu and No: 5 at Central Station in Bodinayakkanur constituency — were situated in places with difficult terrain and limited accessibility.
