Graduate teachers who cleared the 2024 recruitment examination have urged the State government to fill the BT Assistants and Block Resource Teacher Educator (BRTE) posts without conducting a fresh recruitment exam. They told presspersons here on Sunday that nearly 37,000 candidates had qualified for teaching posts across Tamil Nadu in the 2024 recruitment examination conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB). The TRB had notified 3,192 vacancies for BT Assistants and BRTEs. Based on merit, the government filled 2,800 of these posts. However, 392 posts are yet to be filled, and the government had not released a second appointment list so far. In addition, 726 BRTE posts had remained vacant for the past 15 years. The candidates pointed out that although recruitment had been conducted for both BT Assistants and BRTEs, only BT Assistants posts had been filled, and BRTE posts had not been filled at all. Meanwhile, in TRB’s 2024–25 annual plan, it was announced that candidates would be selected for 1,205 BT Assistants and BRTE vacancies through a fresh recruitment examination, and that a notification in this regard would be issued in March. S. Thennarasu, coordinator, said that about 34,200 candidates, who had cleared multiple eligibility tests, the Tamil Eligibility Test, and the 2024 teacher recruitment examination are still awaiting appointments. They urged the government to appoint candidates who had already cleared the recruitment examination to the announced 1,205 posts and the 726 BRTE posts, instead of holding a fresh examination.
