The affliction of cattle with large blisters on the skin has left farmers in Tiruppur district worried.

The contagious ailment has affected native breeds to a greater extent compared to hybrid categories, according to Surendran of Alagumalai village in Pongalur Block. Absence of timely treatment will lead to mortality, he said.

In particular, the Kangayam breed cattle has been affected the most by the ailment, he said, complaining that farmers in the entire Western region were facing difficulties in ensuring intervention by the Animal Husbandry Department.
