A 79-year-old woman died after her saree caught fire while she was lighting a lamp as part of her daily prayers at her residence in Begumpet on Thursday, April 16. The deceased has been identified as TV Vijayalakshmi, a retired private school principal residing in Shyamlal, Begumpet. She lived on the ground floor of the house, while her daughter stayed on the first floor.
