In the wake of a tragic home delivery incident reported from Kaduthuruthy, where a 36-year-old woman lost her newborn and later developed serious complications, a complaint has been filed alleging attempts by authorities to cover up lapses in the public health system. In her complaint lodged with the Chief Secretary, K Prathibha, a doctor with the Health department who is also pursuing legal action seeking clear government guidelines to discourage home deliveries, has flagged what she describes as serious failures on the part of officials. She has also alleged that efforts are being made to gloss over these lapses instead of addressing them.
