A sit-in protest was held at the Coimbatore District Collectorate on Tuesday by the Marumalarchi Makkal Iyakkam, demanding cancellation of the ongoing Assembly election, alleging large-scale distribution of money to voters across all 10 constituencies in the district. The organisation alleged that more than ₹1,000 crore had been distributed to voters and claimed that no action had been taken against candidates allegedly involved in the practice. It said this amounted to a failure in ensuring a free and fair election and urged the Election Commission to intervene and stop the poll process.
