Alleging that the ongoing investigation into the death of dental student Nithin Raj is aimed at shielding the accused and derailing the case, a coalition of Dalit and Adivasi organisations staged a protest march in the district on Friday (April 17). Speakers at the march said the probe was not being conducted based on the family’s complaint but instead on a complaint filed by the college Principal, who they accused of being a co-accused in the case. They further alleged that attempts were being made to divert the investigation to loan apps to conceal what they described as murder and caste-based harassment.
