Revanth Reddy has urged Union Minister for Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy to step in, noting that the State government has already shared details of the officials’ committee with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). In an official communication to Mr. Kishan Reddy — also uploaded on the Chief Minister’s social media handle on Tuesday night — Mr. Revanth Reddy stated that during his two meetings with Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in November and December last year, it was agreed that the Centre would depute two officials to be part of the State government’s officials’ committee. Earlier, the Telangana government had been asked to nominate two officials for a joint committee led by Central officials to fast-track Phase-II approvals. The State had already submitted the names of the Finance Secretary and HMR Commissioner last month, he pointed out. The Chief Minister was responding to Mr. Kishan Reddy’s letter last week, in which the latter said the Centre had “agreed in principle” to HMR Phase-II but was awaiting the nomination of two officials to be part of a Centre-led Joint Committee to coordinate Phase-I takeover and preparatory work for Phase-II. Mr. Revanth Reddy also detailed the Cabinet’s decision to take over Phase-I from L&T and the formation of a Ministerial Sub-Committee to examine the financial and technical modalities of the takeover. A high-powered officials’ panel is already working on these aspects, he added. The HMR Phase-II (A & B) proposals span 162 km across eight corridors and are estimated to cost ₹42,000 crore.
