MGM Healthcare Malar, Adyar, carried out a combined, minimally invasive procedure, comprising transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and implantation of a dual-chamber leadless pacemaker, without resorting to open-heart surgery.

The procedure was carried out on a 75-year-old woman with a prior history of bypass surgery, who presented with severe breathlessness and repeated episodes of loss of consciousness over three months, doctors said at a press meet on Wednesday.
