Central Kerala is reeling under dry weather with the India Meteorological department (IMD) forecasting a maximum temperature of 38˚Celsius in Kottayam district and 37˚Celsius in Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Thrissur.

The region has of late been reporting an average maximum temperature of 35˚Celsius. However, the higher level of humidity makes the temperature “in effect around 45˚Celsius”, experts pointed out.
