Enumerators, all government school teachers, collecting data for Census 2027 in New Delhi on Thursday. | Photo Credit: SHASHI SHEKHAR KASHYAP The first phase of Census 2027 kicked off on Thursday in the New Delhi district under New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Delhi Cantonment, with enumerators fanning out across 571 blocks to digitally map and geotag households ahead of a month-long door-to-door survey. Census officials said the exercise commenced primarily with the mapping and numbering of houses within each block. “The mapping work will be completed in a couple of days, after which enumerators will begin the household listing operations,” said Kapil Chaudhary, New Delhi district census officer.
