As many as 50 Buddhist monks from Thailand, along with local monks, will undertake a 400-km padayatra titled Buddha Dharma Dhamma Padayatra 3 from Kalaburagi to Buddhavanam in Nalgonda district of Telangana, with an objective of spreading the teachings of the Buddha and promoting peace and social harmony. Addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi on Thursday, administrative officer of Siddhartha Vihar Trust R.K. Begar said that the month-long padayatra will commence at Buddha Vihar in Kalaburagi on Monday. It will pass through Mahagaon, Kamalapur, Humnabad and Mannaekhelli before culminating at Buddhavanam in Telangana on March 3. The launch programme of the padayatra will be held at the Bayalu Rangamandir in Buddha Vihar on the evening of February 1. Chairman of Siddhartha Vihar Trust Rahul Kharge will participate in the programme. Mr. Begar said that the initiative is aimed at awakening people to the relevance of the Buddha’s teachings and encouraging a way of life based on compassion, non-violence and mindfulness.
