RAGU ‘The Rajan Effect’, biography of Mohan Rajan, chairman and medical director, Rajan Eye Care Hospital, was released on Wednesday. Padma Subrahmanyam, president, Nrithyodaya, said the book revealed Dr. Rajan’s service and his character. Calling him a “visionary who has given vision to millions of people”, she listed the number of cataract surgeries and corneal transplants performed by him as well as free eye camps and free spectacles distributed. Vijay Amritraj, ace tennis legend, recalled his association with Dr. Rajan, and appreciated the work ethics of the Rajan Eye Care team. Krishnamachari Srikkanth, former Indian cricket team captain, called Dr. Rajan “very helpful”, a “vibrant personality” and passionate about whatever he does. Dr. Rajan highlighted the need for doctors to go beyond the call of duty, which is to have compassion and empathy for patients. “Every patient and every eye is important, and that is the story I have tried to convey,” he said.
