Tripura Police have arrested a Bangladeshi infiltrator who has long been staying in Tripura and is allegedly involved in human trafficking. A fake Aadhar card and other Indian documents were found in his possession.

The accused, Abdul Rahman, is a resident of a locality in Chittagong area in southeast Bangladesh. He was arrested in the Hafania area in Agartala by a team from Amtali police station.

An officer of the Amtali police on Friday (January 30, 2026) informed that the man was detained for his suspicious movements and was taken to the station for verification. During the initial interrogation, his identity as a Bangladeshi national was revealed.

The detainee reportedly confessed to his involvement in trafficking Bangladeshi nationals through different border routes. He is allegedly involved in making fake Aadhar cards, national certificates and driving licence.

Rahman has been placed under remand and police believed further questioning of the accused would help them get more details of his crime. For now, he has been booked under the Passport Act.
