At Jus Drums, there is a variety of percussion to choose from at their 24th annual summer camp; the drums, konakkol or the art of vocal percussion which has its origins in South India, cajón which is a box-shaped instrument from Peru played by slapping its hide, and the djembe, a goblet-shaped drum played commonly in West Africa.

“Rhythm is something that comes naturally to everyone, and I think it is a great outlet for children. Through summer, children signing up for the camp can choose to learn an instrument of their choice. I prefer that the participants are beginners,” says S Muralikrishnan, popularly known as Drums Murali. The annual concert of the school of percussion follows the camp, where students get to take the stage and showcase their summer rhythms.
