The Naduveerapattu police on Thursday arrested an AIADMK functionary for allegedly threatening a 40-year-old man with his licensed pistol over a dispute. Police said the accused, identified as K. Gopal, 36, joint secretary of the IT Wing of the AIADMK Cuddalore East district unit, was arrested and his licensed pistol seized. According to the police, Krishnamoorthy, 60, of Kulandhaikuppam, operated a red sand quarry in the village. He had mined sand from the adjacent land belonging to Vinodh, 40, also an AIADMK functionary. The duo got into an argument and Krishnamoorthy’s son Gopal allegedly threatened Vinodh with his pistol and assaulted him. Based on a complaint lodged by Vinodh, the police arrested Gopal and seized his pistol. A case has been registered.
