Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay announced on Sunday (April 19, 2026) that his party would extend support to K. Premkumar, a former office-bearer of the Vijay Fans Club, who is contesting as an independent candidate in the Edappadi Assembly segment in Salem district. He appealed to the people to vote for Mr. Premkumar under the ‘Television’ symbol. Mr. Vijay’s announcement to back an independent candidate came against the backdrop of the rejection of the nomination filed by his party’s candidate.
